The Serious Stuff…
Kristin is pursuing a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy with an emphasis in Social Justice at Prescott College. She often views therapy from a public health perspective, which she developed while working in the Iowa Newborn Screening Program with the Iowa Department of Public Health. She has her certificate in crisis counseling through the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and to supplement school-based therapy, she has a substitute authorization to teach any subject at all grade levels. Kristin is interested in prevention and working with children who have experienced ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences). She has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and has provided care for a spectrum of diagnoses in various settings. She has a special interest in using a critical social justice lens to work with clients who have experienced marginalization and oppression.
Kristin sees clients out of the Des Moines Office.
The Fun Stuff…
Kristin enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, their cat, Lua, friends, and family. She likes cycling, reading, traveling, going to concerts, watching movies, and making creative expressions. She is on the Iowa Art Therapy Association board, and enjoys traveling to conferences and making art with fellow members.
